The Bower has teamed up with Planting Seeds for their "The Hive" program. As part of this program Planting Seeds will train 20 refugees to create habitats for native Australian bees while drawing upon intercultural approaches to sustainability. The course will be delivered by Planting Seeds in collaboration with Bower Reuse & Repair Centres, and will be run from The Bower in Parramatta, 1/10 Hunter St, throughout May and June.
Participants will be taught:
- How to build a native stingless beehive and nesting boxes;
- How to manage stingless bees; and
- How to create a special pollinating garden suitable for native pollinators
The course will be run in English; educational materials and facilitated training will be delivered in basic English and most levels of English can be catered for.
If you, or someone you know, has a refugee background and is interested in learning about stingless beekeeping and gardening skills, email Planting Seeds.
