Lifestart Start Strong Pathways' team of early childhood educators support families with children aged 2-5 with developmental delay and/or disability to make a smooth transition to early childhood education and have an inclusive experience within these settings (e.g. preschool, long day care, playgroups).
The objectives of the program are to:
- Promote the importance of early childhood education with parents and communities
- Support educational engagement of children too young to receive a preschool education
- Support the pathways to preschool or other early childhood settings
In this program, supports are based on the individual goals and strengths of each child and family. Children and families can access home-based supports, such as supporting children to learn new skills through play and everyday routines, as well as transition supports to an early education setting.
This program supports families in most of the Sydney Metropolitan area, including Fairfield, Bankstown and Liverpool. They only connect with families who are not currently attending a preschool or childcare centre.
There is no cost or fees for the program as it is funded by the NSW Department of Education.
Parents and families can self-refer and service providers can also refer with family consent.
