Western Sydney Community Forum (WSCF) has launched through a symposium, the "Culturally Responsive Framework to Address Gambling Related Harm" with regional leaders from community, business and government. The launch activated robust conversations on the social impact of gambling related harm for communities across greater Western Sydney and the alarming statistics regarding the proportion of gaming machines across the region. Despite containing only 28 percent of electronic gaming machines in the state, machines in greater Western Sydney account for 41 percent of gaming machine net profit in NSW.
The Framework is based on the findings of a participatory action research project. The Symposium presented and integrated lived, practice and research experience. There were also guided simulations of the Framework and its implementation tools.
