Foundations for Working with Adults Sexually Assaulted as Children
20-22 April 2021, 9.00am-5.00pm

Cost: $80 NSW Health participants; $180 Interagency workers (government & non-government); $300 Private practitioners & interstate participants.

This course provides participants with the core knowledge, principles and frameworks for responding to adults who were sexually assaulted as children.

Participants will develop a sound understanding of the dynamics of child sexual assault and the link between these dynamics and presentations to health and other services in adult life.

The course includes information on how to respond to disclosures of sexual assault and provides information about a trauma framework that is appropriate for working with people who have been sexually assaulted. Other key issues such as safety, trust, boundaries, acknowledging strengths and engaging the client in the counselling relationships are also explored.
