Penrith City Council Community Funding Program 2026-2027 Round 1 will support initiatives that foster a healthier, safer and more connected community. Local organisations and community groups are invited to apply for five grants designed to address diverse community needs:
- Thriving Communities Grant: Supporting projects that promote wellbeing, safety, and social connection
- Safe Communities – Domestic and Family Violence Grant: Funding primary prevention initiatives targeting the root causes of domestic and family violence
- Local Events Grant: Enabling events that build social cohesion and community wellbeing
- Magnetic Places Grant: Magnifying resident stories and activating key neighbourhoods through creative expression
- Local Creativity Grant: Supporting individuals and groups to deliver creative and cultural initiatives that contribute to Penrith’s vibrant cultural landscape

- Penrith City Council Transport Advocacy
Penrith City Council is preparing a series of profiles to advocate for better public transport. Currently, limited and infrequent services restrict access to jobs, education, and services across Western Sydney, forcing a high dependency on private vehicles, which has detrimental environmental impacts and perpetuates disadvantage.
Council is seeking individuals who are experiencing these challenges and are willing to share their bus or car travel experiences, particularly around key locations and connections in the Penrith CBD, Kingswood, and St Marys.

Safe Spaces Support is hosting a relaxed evening of crochet, connection, and community. Participants will be creating beanies for NICU babies for the Supporting Miracle Babies Foundation, and blankets and socks for patients of the Nepean Cancer Care Centre. Beginners and experienced welcome.

Penrith City Council’s Waste and Resource Recovery team has joined forces with the Mobile Playvan to bring local families a toy and clothes swap. Families bring along quality pre-loved toys and kids’ clothes and swap them for something “new to them,” while the children enjoy a Playvan session.

YouthSafe Driver Licensing Access Program (DLAP) offers support to get a learner licence to people 16 years and over experiencing disadvantage, financial hardship or other obstacles. The program offers tailored guidance, financial support and access to driving lessons. Eligibility criteria applies.
